UK supermarket Sainsbury’s has initiated a recall of its own-brand Basic Tea Cakes over fears the products may contain pieces of plastic.
Plastic pieces were found in one batch of the 250g, 12 pack teacakes and other products may be affected.
Sainsbury’s attributed the contamination to “a manufacturing fault”.
The supermarket has placed point-of-sale notices in-store and is offering customers a refund.
The announcement came through the UK’s Food Standards Agency website.
