Sainsbury’s Supermarkets has recalled pre-packed bagged salad products containing watercress due to a possible link to an outbreak of E.coli O157 that has sickened 15 people.
The Sainsbury’s products are Watercress Leaves (75g), Watercress, Spinach and Rocket salad (100g)
Watercress, Spinach and Rocket (170g), Watercress twin pack (2 x 35g), So Organic Watercress (75g) and So Organic Watercress, Spinach and Rocket (100g).
Sainsbury’s said that the Food Standards Agency (FSA) was investigating watercress bought at the UK store from 1 August.
In a separate outbreak, National Beef Packing Company is recalling 690 pounds of beef tongue root filet products that may be contaminated with E.coli O157:H7.
Products were produced on 19 August and were shipped to a distributor in Amarillo, Texas, for further processing.
The problem was discovered through routine FSIS monitoring which confirmed a positive result for E.coli O157:H7.
