22-Oct-2003

Toymaker Hasbro , illustrates the dangers of crossing industry sectors today by announcing a recall of 2.7 million of its chocolate brownies and chocolate frosting mixes after it was discovered that its milk, wheat and egg ingredients had been undeclared.

The company alerted consumers that the chocolate brownie and chocolate frosting mixes in certain Easy-bake refill sets for the Easy-bake oven and Rice Krispies snack shoppe brands could run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reactions if consumed.

The mixes were sold in pink and purple brand refill sets with the Easy-bake logo on the outside. Mixes were sold either separately or together with the Easy-bake oven at major toy stores and mass merchandise outlets.

One complaint has already been received in Canada, but the company claim that there is no reason to panic. Easy-bake ovens and other Easy-bake brand products and mixes are beleived not to be affected.

The UPC code numbers of the products affected are; 076930600306, 076930600160, 076281655109, 076281656243, 076281655673, 076930656914 and 076281660264. Consumers who have purchased these mixes have been strongly advised not to use them if they have allergies.

Consumers should go to Easybake for information on how to return these mixes for a replacement mix of comparable value.
