Snap peas have been recalled due to Cyclospora, weeks after an investigation into illnesses from the parasite was closed.

Costco Wholesale Canada Inc. is recalling Alpine Fresh brand Snap Peas sold in its stores across Ontario.

All best before dates of the 907g product from 15-OC-01 to 15-OC-29 inclusively are affected.

The recall was triggered by a Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) investigation into a foodborne illness outbreak.

Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) closed an investigation into 97 cases of Cyclospora infections in Ontario, British Columbia, Alberta, and Quebec earlier this month.

Two cases were hospitalized and people became sick between May 3 and August 8.

The source was not identified but past outbreaks have been associated with imported fresh produce, including pre-packaged salad mix, basil, cilantro, berries, mesclun lettuce and snow peas.
