23 May – A California firm is recalling sliced shiitake mushrooms after it emerged the product may be contaminated with three chemicals – carbendazim, fluoranthene and pyrene.
Residues of these chemicals are not approved on dried mushrooms in the US.
L.A. Link Corporation initiated the recall of the Shiitake-Ya brand mushroom slices after the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) found traces of the unapproved chemicals on sampled products.
“L.A. Link (Huntington Beach) Corporation is taking this action to assure the safety of our consumers,” said the firm.
