Del Monte and Sysco Imperial Fresh brand cantaloupes recalled
Distributor Freshpoint Vancouver said the products were available at retail level in Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba and possibly nationally.
The recall was triggered by Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) test results.
Consumers who are unsure if they have the affected cantaloupes are advised to check with their retailer, said the agency.
The CFIA is investigating which may lead to the recall of other products. There have been no reported illnesses.
Consumers should not consume and retailers, hotels, restaurants and institutions should not sell, serve or use the recalled products.
In October last year, Del Monte Fresh Produce N.A. recalled Granny Smith green apples because they could be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.
In 2011, Del Monte Fresh was linked to an outbreak of Salmonella from cantaloupes harvested from a single farm in Guatemala.
