Detection Technology has completed the expansion of its Beijing factory saying it will increase production capacity to meet medium term demand and enable more flexibility for volume and product mix changes.

The provider of X-ray imaging subsystems and components said the production floor area has grown by 700 square meters and it has invested in automation and technology.

The factory produces more than 600 varieties of high-end and standard X-ray imaging systems for more than 200 customers worldwide. Monthly shipments number tens of thousands.

Detection Technology provides dual-energy detectors for CL (chemical lean) analysis of meat for real-time, in-line and analysis of the fat/lean content and X-ray systems.

“The expansion of the factory is the latest project in our endeavor to deliver a greater customer experience with better product quality and deliveries just in time. The facility supports well our growth target to increase annual sales by at least 15% during the mid-term,” said Hannu Martola, president and CEO.

Kai Utela, VP of operations, said the aim was to have production capacity evolve with demands of the marketplace.

“When designing the factory and its expansion, we put specific emphasis on the highest level of flexibility for quick volume and product mix changes.

“In our view, it is just as important to ensure that our manufacturing capability meets the performance and reliability requirements of the most stringent applications, like high-end medical CT systems.”

Detection Technology started the expansion at the beginning of 2017. The factory, in the Southeast Beijing Business Development Area (BDA), was ramped up in November 2015.

The firm employs 400 people in Finland, China and the US.
