EFSA issues THC research call

EFSA calls for toxicity and occurrence data

The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) is calling for data on toxicity and the presence of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) in food and animal feed.

EFSA will use the occurrence and toxicity data to form a scientific opinion as part of its continuous data collection on chemical contaminants in food and feed.

Member States, research institutions, academia, food and feed business operators are invited to submit data by 1 October 2013.

The continuous call covers Commission recommendations for ergot alkaloids, furan, ethyl carbamate, perfluoroalkylated substances and acrylamide.
