Eurofins has been inducted into the Gluten-Free Certification Program (GFCP) as a newly trained and approved third party auditing and certification company.

The GFCP is a science-based certification program for brand owners wishing to make a gluten-free product claim and is focused on annual certification of a site's internal manufacturing and gluten management system to complement end-product testing.

Paul Valder, president of the Allergen Control Group (ACG), the owners of the GFCP, said the partnership with Eurofins will provide more capabilities to bundle food safety audit services together with the GFCP.

Industry will benefit from increased knowledge, by implementing preventative measures, identifying manufacturing deficiencies and documenting corrective actions, addressing effective gluten controls.

A recognized GFCP facility has proven it is capable of managing the risk for potential cross contamination, in products carrying a “gluten-free” label claim, said ACG.

Gary Smith, Eurofins’ Food Safety Systems director, said: “This partnership will help the food industry verify their food safety programs, label claims, and meet the customer requirements being placed upon them.”

The GFCP provides gluten-free brand building opportunities with North America's consumer-facing celiac organizations, the National Foundation for Celiac Awareness (NFCA) in the USA and the Canadian Celiac Association (CCA) in Canada.
