Novolyze has launched a platform to standardise the evaluation of pathogen inactivation.

NovoGate is set-up in a biological safety level 2 lab, at an R&D centre in France, with the ability to perform test runs on pathogens including Salmonella, Cronobacter sakazakii, E. coli and Listeria.

The platform can test their resistance to different types of stress, such as temperature, pressure and steam/vapour.

Novolyze also has a range of dry, ready-to-use surrogate microorganisms for use during in-plant validation studies to comply with the FDA Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) Preventive Controls for Human Food and Animal Food regulations.

The firm said the objective of NovoGate is to accelerate the development of its surrogate microorganisms and help partners improve control of microbiological hazards in food.

Jena Roberts, VP business development at Novolyze, said projects will commence at the beginning of the year.

“We expect NovoGate to become a reference tool in helping our partners address some of their major food safety challenges.”
