Bachmann Aluminium Packaging has achieved HACCP accreditation and updated its IT systems in order to support business development in Germany, Scandinavia, and Eastern Europe.
A subsidiary of Nicholl Food Packaging Group, Germany-based Bachmann specialises in the manufacture of aluminium packaging for the food industry.
To ensure that it meets the safety standards of customers and responds quickly and efficiently to their enquiries, Bachmann has invested €100,000 in hygiene certification and new IT systems.
On the hygiene side, Bachmann has now gained HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point) accreditation. This is linked to its existing ISO9001 quality standard and involves implementation of new procedures and processes, as well as documentation and a staff training programme.
The company has also been awarded Normpack accreditation, which confirms that its packs meet the quality and hygiene requirements of Scandinavian countries.
As for IT systems, Bachmann has spent €70,000 on a new warehouse management and inventory control system. By creating a more efficient production and storage operation, Bachmann said the new system will enable the company to provide a faster response time to customer orders and queries.
Explaining the investments, Bachmann managing director Bernd Wagner said: “In competitive retail markets, maintaining the highest hygiene standards is vital for our customers; so too is being able to respond efficiently to their orders and to react quickly to any changes or last-minute requests.”
