Five samples that tested positive for horse or pig DNA above the Food Standards Agency (FSA)’s threshold have been challenged, according to the latest survey results.
The FSA reported 10 samples out of 362 were positive for horse and pig DNA.
Three products containing pig DNA were ASDA Spaghetti and Meatballs; ASDA Beef Cannelloni; and Apetito Beef Lasagne.
Whitbread burger and IKEA meatballs were confirmed as containing horse DNA at or above the 1% threshold.
The five samples being challenged are awaiting the outcome of independent tests and if they are found to be above the 1% threshold, they will be reported by the FSA.
