The BRC Global Standard for Agents and Brokers covers businesses in the food and food packaging industries that buy, sell or facilitate the trade of products.
Knight International Inspectorate and Micron2 will also take part in the programme which starts this month and ends in January 2015.
Certification bodies must be approved by the BRC, with accreditation from the accreditation body, which in this case is UKAS.
UKAS will assess the competence, impartiality and the performance capability of organisations using the product certification standard ISO/IEC 17065: 2012 (Conformity assessment – Requirements for bodies certifying products, processes and services).
After the pilot, UKAS will announce the accreditation of successful certification bodies and it will then be open to other organisations to apply.
