LRQA has expanded its food safety training courses to offer FSMA Preventive Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI) for Human Food FSPCA training.

The course provides an understanding of FDA Standard requirements, Good Manufacturing Practices, compliance, hazard analysis and risk-based preventive controls (HARPC) that meet the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA).

LRQA offers it for public registration and for private, on-site delivery.

The 20-hour FSMA PCQI training course was developed by the Food Safety Preventive Controls Alliance (FSPCA) and is the standardized curriculum recognized by FDA.

It is designed to assist companies in complying with the FSMA preventive controls regulations as part of the final rules.

The agenda includes Good Manufacturing Practices; biological, chemical, physical and economically motivated food safety hazards; hazard analysis and preventive controls determination and controls; food allergen, sanitation, and supply-chain preventive controls; verification and validation and record-keeping procedures; recall plan; and regulation overviews.

Chris Koci, president, said consequences of a recall can have devastating financial impacts for any company.

“The best recourse is prevention through developing a strong Food Safety Management System that is supported by highly qualified Preventive Controls Individuals embedded in the organization.”

LRQA’s FSPCA PCQI training course attendees will receive an FSPCA preventive controls for human food participant manual and upon successful completion, attendees will receive an FDA-recognized FSPCA PCQI training course certificate.

The firm will hold the course across the Americas in the US, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Chile, Argentina and Peru with additional locations to be announced.
