The firm’s 6,300sq foot office, at Cranfield University Technology Park, enables them to be close to the research facilities of Cranfield University.
Simon Lee, It’sFresh! director, said after research with the university sharing campus space will have significant benefits for the company.
“We have already invested over £10m in advanced materials technology in order to revolutionise food freshness, and this new location, at the heart of British science and innovation, is the ideal place for us to maximise our development potential.”
The firm recently opened a US HQ to meet business growth in the Americas .
Paul Moody, CEO of the firm, added: “Based on current commercial roll-out we know It’sFresh! typically saves around 50% of in-store waste and adds two days onto shelf life.
“This gives consumers greater freedom to buy and enjoy their five-a-day, as well as reducing waste along the entire supply chain.”
The firm’s product is a paper-thin technology in the form of a food grade sheet. It can be put into bulk and retail fresh produce packaging, trapping ethylene, the natural ripening hormone which causes fruit to ripen and go mouldy.
