Mettler-Toledo has launched a high speed moisture analyser, which can be used on the factory floor as well as in a lab.
The Excellence HS153 Halogen Moisture Analyser is designed to be easy to operate, can be cleaned quickly and can help processors meet regulatory requirements and ensure swift quality assurance checks, the company claims.
“For food manufacturers, speed-to-market pressure is high — but the kind of quality assurance that not only guarantees palatability but also ensures consumer safety is critical.
“So batch by batch, manufacturers must test a variety of attributes including moisture content to prevent spoilage and ensure products perform as expected to ensure repeat sales and brand stability.”
Helping manufacturers to prevent spoilage
The device incorporates a simple Mettler Toledo OneClick display screen, which provides data on the drying process, helping manufacturers to prevent spoilage. Individual control and warning limits can be defined for each product.
In addition, it features individual rights assignment, which means only the features required for a particular process are seen by its current user.
Users can customize the home screens and personalize shortcuts, allowing starting measurements to be made by pressing a single button.
Pass/Fail results are indicated by a color-coded display for instant analysis enhanced by real-time drying curves and integrated control charts.
The Excellence HS153 is combined with a MonoBloc weighing cell with a 200g capacity hanging pan, which distances it from the heat of the sample chamber for added protection.
The testing chamber uses halogen heating technology that offers shorter heating and cooling cycles and precise temperature control. “The first measurement with a cold instrument is just as accurate as the following measurement with a warm instrument,” the firm claims.
The device also has a built-in USB flash drive that helps users quickly configure lab instruments and export results them for analysis.
It has also been specially crafted to prevent spills, which could otherwise damage the weighing cell, which is now located at the back of the instrument, said Mettler-Toledo. “The sample chamber is completely flat and sealed to facilitate cleaning in about 30 seconds for added time savings.”
