The firm said it was among one of the first third-party certification bodies to receive the full license.
The standard contains a certification scheme for food safety systems of firms that process or manufacture animal and perishable vegetable products, products with a long shelf life, other food ingredients (e.g., additives, vitamins, bio-cultures), and food packaging materials.
FSSC 22000 was developed by the Foundation for Food Safety Certification and is recognized by the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI).
“The achievement of a full license for FSSC 22000 Food Packaging Materials strengthens our relationship with the FSSC 22000 program and helps to solidify our position as a leading provider of audit services within the food industry,” said Patrick Bèle, global food product manager, Bureau Veritas Certification.
It incorporates ISO 22000, the internationally recognized ISO standard for food safety management systems.
Bureau Veritas Certification is an accredited audit body for standards including the GMP+, GLOBALGAP, BRC, SQF, and IFS standards.
