China’s State Food and Drug Administration (SFDA) has announced the appointment of a new director, according to reports from Chinese news agency Xinhua.
Yin Li was appointed director of the agency, replacing Shao Mingli, who was also removed from his position as vice minister of health.
China’s State Council announced a wave a new appointments and dismissal in a reshuffle of various departments.
The agency is responsible for the supervision and safety of food, health food, drugs and cosmetics in mainland China.
Zheng Xiaoyu, the former head of the SFDA, was executed in 2007 after being convicted of taking bribes and dereliction of duty.
