Genesee Community College is getting ready to start its fall semester classes in Food Processing Technology.
Genesee Community College (GCC) is poised to kick off its fall semester, welcoming students looking for a lucrative career in food production.

The school, located in New York State, will offer more than 60 different classes focused on production, safety, and other aspects of food processing starting Monday, August 25.

The Food Processing Technology Associate of Applied Science degree, a two-year program requiring 63 credits to graduate, is offered at a school situated in a region rife with food processing and packaging companies to find work at.

Future food folk

Virginia Taylor, vice president for student and enrollment services at GCC, said the school provides the opportunity for future food professionals to learn their craft and keep up to date with the latest technologies.

"GCC is always innovating and working to stay on the cutting edge of how to deliver educational opportunities to our students​," she said. "Our faculty and staff are well-known for their commitment to student success and our tuition is among the most affordable in New York State.​"

GCC is offering a $500 scholarship for students interested in the program, applied toward its Food Processing Technology course.

Industry education

In addition to the Food Processing Technology degree, GCC also offers a number of degrees for computer technicians and support staff. The nine different computer curricula include Computer Information Systems, AS; Computer Systems and Network Technology, AAS and Computer Support and Operations, AAS.

The college offers financial aid programs for students looking for ways to fund their education. In addition, online courses are available.
