The state of Illinois has shut down Parks Locker Service, a meat processor, for numerous safety violations.

Food safety inspectors have ordered the closure of a meat and poultry facility after inspectors found 136 different safety and sanitation violations at the site.

Parks Locker Service, an Illinois meat and poultry processing operation, has been closed by the Illinois Department of Agriculture for numerous violations.

According to department representatives, Parks Locker Service had been visited by inspectors between March and June of this year. Those inspectors reportedly uncovered 136 separate serious safety and sanitation infractions.

The Department of Agriculture claimed inspectors visiting the facility observed rust on meat hooks, peeling and flaking paint in areas in which meat was being processed, and water dripping down onto processing rails.

Officials of the company have been ordered to cease all processing of its meat and poultry products, as well as sale activity. The company may appeal the decision if it chooses.

FoodProductionDaily was unable to reach Parks Locker Service for comment on the situation. We will provide additional details as soon as they are available.
