Ingredients used in a brownie mix as part of a Conagra Brands meal may be contaminated with Salmonella.

The US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (USDA-FSIS) said the brownie mix dessert in the breaded chicken nugget meal trays could contain the pathogen.

Conagra Brands was told by an unnamed supplier that an ingredient used in the brownie mix may be contaminated. The company then notified USDA-FSIS.

There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions.

The agency said the alert covers 110,817 pounds of frozen meals shipped to retail nationwide.

It affects 7.4 oz. vacuum-packed trays containing “BANQUET Chicken Nuggets with Mac & Cheese” with code 3100080921 and a “Best if used by” date of July 20, 2018.

The breaded chicken nugget, macaroni and cheese and chocolate brownie meal tray was produced on January 26.

It follows a Conagra Brands recall of Hunt's Chili Kits due to possible Salmonella in the chili seasoning packet in the kit, at the start of the month.

The chili seasoning came from a supplier who informed the company of the potential problem in a raw material used in the chili seasoning.

No Salmonella was found in the finished product supplied to Conagra Brands but the company decided to recall it.

It was distributed in retail stores, military commissaries and online nationwide in the US.
