Heightened food safety concerns, durability, ease of cleaning and minimising downtime are all trends driving developments in belting systems for food processing players.

FoodProductionDaily.com caught up with Clive Silverman from Volta Belting Technology to talk about how he believes the growth in awareness about these issues is fuelling demand for the type of belts his company produces.

The sales manager said the firm's homogeneous thermoplastic belting system is experiencing an unprecedented upswing in demand because of the need for belts that do not crack, prevent bacteria build up and are easy to clean. The need to cut downtime and promote energy and water savings are also key, he added.
