Thermo Fisher Scientific has launched software for gas and liquid chromatography analysis that simplifies the process and makes it more user-friendly.

Thermo Scientific TraceFinder software version 2.1 is designed for the quantitative and qualitative review of data for routine analyses.

It has been specifically tailored to make the lives of food scientists and other analysts easier by eliminating the need for multiple software packages when moving between most gas and liquid chromatographic techniques.

Flexibility

This could provide more flexibility in the laboratory and reduce the need to learn new software packages, said Thermo Fisher Scientific.

In addition to food safety applications, the software can also be used for clinical research, forensic toxicology and environmental analysis. 

The software offers a simple workflow-driven method setup and automated data acquisition, data processing and reporting capabilities.

Sharing ability

Methods developed with TraceFinder software can be shared between instruments and between laboratories. This sharing ability allows users to make methods readily available on new instruments. 

In addition, it makes triple quadrupole gas chromatography mass spectrometry and liquid-chromatography mass spectrometry tests easier, Thermo Fisher Scientific claims.

The software is capable of storing and accessing an extensive list of selected reaction monitoring (SRM) experiments in food safety residue analysis, the company added.

Data review can be customized and assigns multiple flags to aid with quick identification of problem areas within a data set.

To protect the integrity of analytical data, the software also includes a rights-based secure user login system, said Thermo Fisher Scientific.
