A US firm has recalled 35,800 pounds of breaded chicken products because they may contain pieces of plastic, said the US Department of Agriculture's (USDA) Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS).

Suzanna's Kitchen recalled 12-oz Freebird Fully Cooked Chicken Nuggets with a use-by date of 15 March 2014, 12-oz Freebird fully cooked Gluten Free/Soy Free Chicken Patties with a use-by of 6 September 2013 and 10-lb Fully Cooked Chicken Nuggets with a use-by of 15 March 2014.

The nuggets and patties bear the USDA mark of inspection and were produced on 15 March 2012, and 6 September 2011 for a separate establishment and distributed to retail stores nationwide.

The problem was discovered as a result of consumer complaints about finding pieces of plastic in the products which may have originated from the plastic bag the products were held in prior to production.
