Russell Stover Candies handed $44,005 fine for chemical hazard exposure
US confectioner Russell Stover Candies has been fined $44,005 for exposing workers to hazardous chemicals.

The US Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration cited Russell Stover Candies for eight serious safety violations at its Corsicana plant in Texas, which is home to 700 of its 2,500-strong workforce.

Jack Rector, OSHA's Fort Worth area director, said: "This company jeopardized the safety of its employees by failing to effectively implement OSHA's process safety management (PSM) regulations,"

Most of the violations related to Russell Stover’s refrigeration system.

The company has 15 business days after receiving the citations to comply, request an informal conference with OSHA or contest before the independent Occupational Safety and Health Review Commission.
