Beira Mar Importers Co. has had its cheese import licence cancelled by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA).

CFIA said that the company does not meet the requirements to hold the licence, which requires that an importer maintain a recall program.

The order was effective from 7 January for the firm from Burnaby, British Columbia.

Beira Mar Importers Co.’s cheese import licence was suspended on 8 October 2013 due to non-compliance with regulations.

There is no food recall associated with the cancellation, said the CFIA
