Eurofins has acquired a Dutch testing lab to provide a platform to scale up some of its low volume activities.

Eurofins Scientific (EUFI.PA) bought KBBL, a food and water testing service provider in The Netherlands, from Gezondheidsdienst voor Dieren (GD), a company in animal health management.

KBBL generates revenues in excess of €7m, and is active in the domestic food and water testing and is a reference laboratory for meat testing.

Eurofins will continue a strategic cooperation with GD providing analytical services for the food sector.

The acquisition provides Eurofins access to the domestic meat testing market, and allows further development in this area for KBBL.

KBBL’s laboratory is located in Wijhe, between Eurofins’ food testing hubs in Heerenveen and Barendrecht, and in close proximity to the group’s water testing activities in Deventer.
