Birko has partnered with Dunbar Foods Corp. to provide the firm with specialized sanitation materials.

The Dunn, North Carolina-based firm is a canning production facility for Moody Dunbar, Johnson City, Tennessee.

Birko will supply it with Foam Chlor 535, a liquid self-foaming, chlorinated cleaner for nightly cleaning of all equipment and Fomacid, a concentrated, self-foaming acid cleaner used once monthly to flip the environment and lower the PH.

The firm provide Dunbar Foods with reports on sanitation processes and procedures, and chemical usage to assure the plant is cleaned and sanitized properly.

Kathryn Nixa, Dunbar Foods’ manager of quality assurance, said Birko made multiple plant visits and audited its sanitation group to ensure food safety effectiveness.

“Birko provides us with the right food safety chemistry for our plant, especially in regards to strength and the ability to break down our starch residuals.”

Moody Dunbar is a family owned processor of bell peppers, pimientos and sweet potatoes with two processing facilities, in Dunn, North Carolina and Saticoy, California.
