Bizerba, weighing, slicing, and labelling technologies, has acquired the food sector of Luceo.

The company, which is headquartered in Rennes, France, belongs to the Tiama Group and focuses on visual inspection technology.

Bizerba Luceo will now operate from France and begins operations on April 1, 2015.

Against the backdrop of recent scandals, the issue of quality control in the food sector is becoming increasingly important. With the Luceo products, we are expanding our existing range of products for detecting debris or foreign particles, particularly in the premium segment,” said Christian Korte, VP, Industry, Bizerba and CEO, Bizerba Luceo.

Luceo also offers patented sensors that can be directly integrated in packaging machines, to detect errors in the production process.

The Luceo inspection portfolio includes the SliceCheck system. Food producers can use the system, with the support of a camera, to monitor the slicing of sausage before the packaging process and to optimise this using feedback loops.
