Eurofins is to expand its laboratory facility in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania and add 350 jobs.

Eurofins Lancaster Laboratories, Inc. plans to construct a five-story, 168,000-square-foot facility for labs and office space at its main campus in Upper Leacock Township.

The company will invest $59m and construction is anticipated to start in April.

“This expansion is the result of the excellent commitment and technical capability of our people in successfully nurturing strategic partnerships with our clients in Europe, North America and Asia,” said Timothy S. Oostdyk, chairman of Eurofins Lancaster Laboratories and group senior VP for Eurofins BioPharma Product Testing.

“Further, we appreciate the critical support from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and Eurofins’ absolute commitment to aggressively funding growth to enhance the way we serve our customers as well as build the best and widest-reaching global testing network.”

Governor Tom Wolf said: “Projects like this that utilize the talents of our highly-skilled and dedicated workforce are what will continue to grow our communities and strengthen our economy.”

Eurofins received a funding proposal from the Department of Community and Economic Development that includes a $1m Pennsylvania First Program grant and $1,050,000 in Job Creation Tax Credits upon creation of the jobs.

The firm will also retain 1,500 existing positions.

The project was coordinated by the Governor’s Action Team and the Economic Development Company of Lancaster County (EDC).

Lisa Riggs, EDC president, said the company’s facilities and workforce are major contributors to Lancaster County’s robust economy.

“We are thrilled and excited to see the company’s continued investment here, anchoring the biopharmaceutical and environmental laboratory work of this global scientific services giant.”
