The instant coffee is used as a male enhancement and is packaged in 13g red packs, UPC 557205060083 in a box and each box contains 25 packets.
Bestherbs Coffee distributed this product from July 2014 through June 2016.
The US FDA said in a statement: “Bestherbs Coffee is voluntarily recalling all lots of New of Kopi Jantan Tradisional Natural Herbs Coffee, 13 grams to the consumer level.
“FDA laboratory analysis confirmed the presence of desmethyl carbodenafil. Desmethyl carbodenafil is structurally similar to sildenafil, the active ingredient in Viagra, an FDA-approved prescription drug for erectile dysfunction (ED). New of Kopi Jantan Tradisional Natural Herbs Coffee also contains undeclared milk.
“These undeclared ingredient may interact with nitrates found in some prescription drugs, such as nitroglycerin, and may lower blood pressure to dangerous levels.
“Men with diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, or heart disease often take nitrates. In addition, people who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk run the risk of serious or life threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product.”
Bestherbs Coffee based in Grand Prairie, Texas, said it is notifying customers by phone and people who have bought the product should stop using it, discard it or contact their doctor if they have experienced any problems related to consuming the drink.
When the product was sold it was promoted as a male enhancement compound, without revealing it has effects similar to Viagra.
New Kopi Jantan Tradisional Natural Herbs Coffee was distributed nationwide to consumers via individuals or through the internet. No illness has been reported to date.
