Markes sees growth in Chinese environmental monitoring market

Markes International opens Chinese subsidiary
Markes International has opened a Chinese subsidiary to support partners in the country.

Markes Instruments (Shanghai) Co. (玛珂思仪器(上海)有限公司) will support the existing network of Chinese distributors and sales agents and will be led by Lili Tang, general manager.

The expert in thermal desorption technology said there has been significant growth in the environmental monitoring market in China.

Tim Hawkins, managing director, said it is building a team of specialists to support partners and investing in monitoring technologies focused on Chinese requirements.

“Lili shares our drive for excellence and our passion for engaging with our partners to deliver the best results for our customers, and her appointment comes at a truly exciting time in Markes’ growth story.”

Tang will also help create a Technology Support Centre in Shanghai.

She was previously the director of Jiangsu Environmental Monitoring Centre and Professor in Nanjing University of Science & Technology, where she led province-wide atmospheric monitoring networks and established systems for air and ozone quality management.

Markes International manufactures specialist analytical instrumentation for trace organic analysis and develops time-of-flight MS technology for gas chromatography.

The firm is a part of the Schauenburg International Group and has technical support centres in the UK, US and Germany.
