PrimusLabs partners with Hygiena to use BAX system
PrimusLabs has adopted the BAX system for microbiological testing.

It will be used at all PrimusLabs in the US and Mexicali, Baja California while other Mexican labs will transition to it in the future.

“PrimusLabs has long made the commitment to utilize the most reliable and accurate technology possible to help us to serve food industries,” said Adam Hughes, director of microbiology.

Hygiena’s BAX System uses polymerase chain reaction (PCR) to detect bacteria and other microbes in food and environmental samples.

Hygiena, a Warburg Pincus portfolio company, acquired DuPont’s global food safety diagnostics business including the BAX system, last year.

For more than 20 years, the BAX system has been a method used for third party testing and academic research and government labs.

PrimusLabs had adopted the Atlas System, a fully automated molecular system for pathogen detection, from Roka Bioscience in 2014.

Roka Bioscience agreed to sell its assets to a subsidiary of Institute for Environmental Health (IEH) for $17.5m earlier this year.
