Biorex Food Diagnostics has appointed BioFront Technologies as its North America distributor for its food safety platform.

Biorex products include a range of antibiotics, mycotoxins, hormones and beta-agonists.

The antibiotic kit line has tests for chloramphenicol, nitrofuran metabolites, quinolones, streptomycin, sulfonamides, tetracycline and tylosin.

Mycotoxin kits include aflatoxin and ochratoxin, with a hormonal kit portfolio including diethylstilbestrol, zeranol, trenbolone, clenbuterol, ractopamine and a beta-agonist kit capable of detecting 11 compounds.

Biorex kits can be used in sample matrices including honey, seafood (prawns), urine, milk, feed, nuts and dried fruit.

Dr Morteza Afrasiabi, managing director of Biorex Food Diagnostics, said: “These complimentary ELISA based productswill enable testing laboratories and food producers across the globe to assess exceptional analytical performance in food, feed and animal health.”

The firm also has a fipronil immunoassay screening test for liquid egg. The kit allows egg producers to test 42 samples in their facilities with results available within 75 minutes.

Biorex customers will have access to Biofront’s food allergen test kit line including gluten, peanuts, treenuts, egg, lupin, milk, soy, seeds (sesame, mustard and buckwheat) and shellfish.

The enzyme-linked immuno-sorbent assay (ELISA) kits are designed to detect and quantify trace amounts of allergens in complex food matrices and surface rinses.

Jason Robotham, president of BioFront Technologies, said: “Many of our food allergen customers also perform routine tests for analytes that Biorex detect, and for our US customers, this will make it easier for them to access our Fapas reference materials and PT services for these same analytes, thus ensuring the highest quality standards and confidence in analytical performance.”
