An existing building was developed into a laboratory on the Northwest side of Atlanta.
The 20,000 square foot analytical lab for the food and consumables industry was opened to meet the need for more space.
It is in the Atlanta area and will be capable of conducting microbiological tests, allergen detection, wet chemistry and product evaluation for the food industry.
Equipment includes a large steam sterilizer (autoclaves), biological hoods, water purification and treatment systems, bulk media mixing equipment, molecular/PCR rapid screening platforms for pathogens, automated ELISA testing and allergen testing systems.
Within the laboratory is a 50 seat theater for FSNS education classes and customer use.
Chantale Johnson, a microbiologist, will be lab manager and has been with the company for eight years.
She is joined by 50 staff in a variety of roles that are required to manage and operate an analytical lab.
FSNS also has labs in Dallas, Texas; Amarillo, Texas; Phoenix, Arizona; Los Angeles, California; Fresno, California; Atlanta, Georgia; Columbus, Ohio; Green Bay, Wisconsin; Boise, Idaho and will open a site in Greeley, Colorado in March next year.
