Food Safety Summit marks 20th anniversary

The Food Safety Summit trade show will mark its 20th anniversary this year.

The event is at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, Illinois from 7-10 May.

Exhibitors include Alchemy Systems, Q Laboratories, SGS, Novolyze, Intralytix, bioMerieux, Intertek, Eurofins, Crystal Diagnostics, Hygiena, Mettler Toledo, DNV, Romer Labs and Thermo Fisher Scientific.

Professionals from the food safety supply chain can take advantage of seven certification courses, two dozen education sessions, a keynote presentation, case studies, discussion groups, networking events and a trade show floor featuring 200+ exhibitors.

Highlights of the program include certification and training courses for HACCP and Seafood HACCP, Foreign Supplier Verification, Preventive Controls for Human Foods, Auditor Training and the Certified in Comprehensive Food Safety course by NEHA.

Carletta Ooton, VP, health and safety, sustainability, security and compliance at Amazon, will deliver the keynote presentation.

The education program will offer 26 sessions covering traceability, regulations, FSMA, foodborne outbreaks, big data, food fraud prevention, microbial interventions and co-packers.

Carmen Rottenberg, acting deputy Under Secretary at USDA, Steve Mandernach, bureau chief for food and consumer safety at Iowa department inspections and appeals, Robert Tauxe from CDC and Stephen Ostroff of FDA will feature in a session moderated by Gary Ades, G&L Consulting Group.

"This year the Food Safety Summit has organized a show that focuses on addressing food safety throughout the supply chain by hosting a program that emphasizes how each community that makes up the ecosystem is connected,” ​said Scott Wolters, director, tradeshows and conferences at BNP Media, producers of the event.

It is vital to understand not only the specific roles and responsibilities that make up the industry but also those in the rest of the process.”
