7 May - UK: Mars Food UK is recalling some packs of Uncle Ben's Special – Chinese Style Rice because they may contain Uncle Ben's Special – Special Fried Rice, which contains milk and egg.
The allergen information on the labelling is incorrect and the presence of milk and egg is not mentioned, making the product a possible health risk for anyone who is allergic to these products.
The 250g pouches have 'Best before' end dates: 25 April 2015 and 26 April 2015.
A statement from the firm said it was alerted to some Uncle Ben’s Special - Chinese Style Rice 250g packs may contain Uncle Ben’s Special - Special Fried Rice.
"The incorrect packaging means that the product may contain egg, milk and pork which are not stated on the label. Egg and milk could pose a health risk for consumers who have an allergy or intolerance to egg or milk.
"We have therefore issued an allergy alert in full cooperation with the relevant food safety authorities. Consumers who have an allergy or intolerance to egg or milk should not eat the product."
