From food fraud and rapid pathogen detection to nanotechnology, FoodQualityNews’ 2016 editorial calendar of special editions span the range of the global food safety and quality market.

Product inspection systems (24 February)

Food safety and quality are of utmost importance, especially with regulations like the FDA’s Food Safety Modernization Act requiring diligence all over the supply chain.

This special edition will look at metal and x-ray detection, HACCP as well as the software and technologies that can facilitate the processes.

Food fraud (23 March)

The adulteration of food could be due to supply issues, economic motives or criminal activity. Examples include when horse meat was substituted for beef but other incidents have included oils, honey, dairy and fish.

However, for those involved in industry it presents many challenges to stop and to ensure traceability throughout all your suppliers.

Rapid pathogen detection (27 July)

World Health Organization (WHO) estimates of the global burden of foodborne disease have shown one in 10 people are hit by foodborne illness each year. While the US Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) is pushing a move from reactive to preventive it will be slow and steady progress.

Pathogen detection kits are crucial to ensure contaminated products are not released to consumers, leading to a recall and damage to bottom lines as well as brand reputation.

Hygiene and Sanitation (26 October)

While food firms and public agencies are making strides in reducing incidents of foodborne pathogen contamination, consumers across the globe are still falling ill and outfits like the FDA are tightening hygiene requirements.

This special will discuss sanitation systems and materials, testing technology, processing equipment components that foster clean conditions, and more.

Automation (23 November)

Whether it is sample preparation, handling or analysis automation is playing more of a role and the word from industry is this is only going to keep on growing.

Obviously this depends on the size of the company and the day to day work but getting things done quicker means more productivity and a positive impact on the ROI. Which technologies are being used in the food safety and quality control industry and why?

Key trade show newsletter – Analytica (18 May)

Everyone that is anyone will be present at Analytica this year and just as we were for the last edition, FQN will be attending the show to bring you the latest lab news relevant for the food and beverage industry. If you will be at the event please get in touch to set up a meeting.

The above is a snapshot of key topics that we will cover this year. We will, of course, move with the latest news and views so it is subject to change and we are always open to receiving guest articles if there is a topic that you feel we should be covering that has not appeared above.

If any of these areas grab your attention or you are interested in advertising or sponsorship opportunities, please get in touch with us: wbr.juvgjbegu@jeoz.pbz (editorial) and pierre.fetat@wrbm.com (advertising).
